An hour length program comprised entirely of the music of J.S Bach including his complete lute suite in E minor, two Preludes and Fugues from the Well Tempered Clavier, and his Toccata in G Major (BWV 564), which has not yet been recorded on the marimba.

Performance of Garth Neustadter’s Seaborne and Alejandro Vinao’s Water in Downtown Baltimore

Peter Klatzow wrote Concerto for Marimba and String Orchestra in 1985, and Martin Bresnick wrote his double concerto Grace in 2011. Each are seminal works in the marimba repertoire, however, in the span of 25 marimba composition was exposed to endless new possibilities as a result of the solo works of Alejandro Vinao, Jacob Druckman, Joseph Schwantner, and others. This program gives audiences a glimpse into two very different soundscapes by masterful composers from two different eras.
